Fight to the end or give up?

It may often seem to us that leadership has to do with tenacity, struggle, perseverance, the capacity for suffering, sacrifice or resilience. And yes, leadership is this, but it is also knowing how to stop, get down, let go, rest, accept defeat and even give up.

And everything that seems so contradictory is at the same time complementary, and means that each individual, starting from his own personal leadership, needs to find his own formula to achieve balance with himself and also with others.

It is as important to learn to get up when life knocks us down, as it is to understand that there are battles that do not deserve to be fought because they are impossible to win, or because they have too high a cost that does not compensate us in any way.

How to decide whether to give up or fight to the end?

And this is an open debate especially in times of cycle change or life transition. Marketing experts, for example, know perfectly well that every service or product, even if it has had a successful start on the market, sooner or later will have to face a process of fluctuations where what worked very well no longer works, and therefore all that remains are these 2 choices: reinvent yourself to achieve a second rebirth, or accept to disappear from the market.

So, disappearing, or dying in more general terms, is not bad, but it is part of the life cycle.

An individual, who in any case expresses his personal leadership, decides to have and carry out actions that have an impact and contribution in his surrounding and even internal environment, but who at the same time has the freedom and total legitimacy to decide which battles hire and above all for how long.

We all have the responsibility for what is in our hands and which implies improving the lives of the people around us, and at the same time we have the right to choose the way and channels we will use to achieve our goals.

How to decide whether to fight to the end or give up? Here’s how to act in 4 ways:

1.Listen and respect our inner voice that guides us and shows us our future contribution. Knowing what moves us from inside and that we often don’t know how to deal with.

2.Knowing how to “remove”, temporarily, from the environment to seek an inner peace that allows one to be honest with one’s personal purpose, and not to succumb to pleasing what the environment wants, but which does not resonate with the person.

3. Decide next steps based on continuing to grow as an individual, or as part of a system, and not as a consequence of escaping from situations or people that cause suffering.

4.Move somewhere. Hopefully it’s the best for the person and others; In the worst case scenario, life will teach you paths that you will never want to take again. But in both cases it will always be much better than staying still and waiting for the wind to be favorable.
